BRAID AFTERCARE
Excess touching or playing with your braids
Getting your braids wet
Saunas, hot tubs – increased risk of frizziness
THINGS TO AVOID
Use a light amount of hairspray to spray down any flyaways as they pop up!
If the gel starts flaking, use a damp cloth or towel and wipe off with the grain of the hair.
Going out on a sunny day? Use a little sunscreen on your part line/s to avoid flaking and burning!
When taking any extensions out, do this outside – the coloured extensions follow you everywhere! Dispose of it outside to avoid trailing in the house.
Ensure you properly wash and condition your hair after taking the braids out – a few shampoos may be necessary to completely cleanse all the product out of your hair.
OPTIONAL: Cover your hair at night with a durag, silk bonnet, or use a silk pillow case – decreases the amount of friction on your hair during sleep.
MAD’S FAVOURITE TIPS
It is completely normal to lose hair when taking braids out, this is the natural shedding that occurs that is kept locked in the braids – do not be alarmed, we lose around 50-100 strands per day!
